Toyota Prius C Earns Top Safety Pick Award


The 2015 Toyota Prius C subcompact hybrid hatchback earned the Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety following structural improvements to the front end and occupant compartment.

The car's side curtain airbags were also lengthened.

The rating applies to 2015 Prius C models built after May.

Toyota Motor Sales today reported June 2015 sales of 209,912 units, an increase of 4.1 percent from June 2014 on a volume basis.  With one more selling day in June 2015 than in June 2014, sales were down 0.1 percent on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis.

Toyota Still Most Valuable Car Brand

Toyota Motor kept its title as the most valuable car brand in 2015 despite recent airbag recalls denting its worth, according to a study.

BMW remained No. 2, according to the BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands study released today by market researcher Millward Brown. Mercedes-Benz was third.

Toyota Motor Corp. and Mazda Motor Corp. have agreed to form a "long-term partnership" that deepens collaboration on products, manufacturing and technologies as carmakers race to spread spiraling development costs amid ever-stricter emissions standards.
