Finding out your car won't start on a day when you're late for work or have an important meeting can be incredibly frustrating. Here at Marion Toyota, we want to help you avoid such a problem by explaining how you can test your car's batter at home. Follow these simple tips.
If you don't remember the last time you got a new battery or suspect yours is losing power, you can check it by turning on your headlights for 15 minutes. Then come back and try to start your vehicle. Observe how bright your headlights are. If they dim significantly when your car's engine turns over, your battery hasn't passed this load test and probably needs to be replaced.
Anther sign to look for is corrosion on the battery's terminals. If you see indicators of corrosion, you can try to clean it off with baking soda. This could help the battery to transfer power more efficiently. If not, it's time for a new battery.
