This morning, Marion Toyota owner Jeff Mayer, presented a $500 check to Megan Thompson of Washington Elementary School in Marion. Mayer was accompanied by Jennifer Chaney, VIP Customer Consultant at Marion Toyota.
Megan was awarded the money after receiving the most votes in Marion Toyota's "Adopt a Classroom" contest which was promoted on the Marion Toyota Facebook page. Several teachers from throughout Southern Illinois participated in the contest. For 3 weeks, friends and followers could visit mariontoyota.com/win and cast their votes. Megan received over 40% of the more than 2,000 total votes cast.
Megan plans on using the money to support her 2nd grade class at Marion's Washington Elementary School with more "STEM" projects. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. "Marion Toyota is excited to support a local teacher with our Adopt a Classroom program", Chaney said. "We're sure Megan's going to put the money to great use and have a fantastic school year for her kids", added Chaney.
