Very soon snow will be falling in Illinois and getting your vehicle ready for the winter freeze may help you stay safe and warm. Most people put more miles on their vehicles in the summer with all the activities and trips that come with the warm weather, but winter driving safety is just as important.

As winter approaches, it's time to make sure any neglected items are taken care of. The first place to start is the antifreeze. Coolant systems that are not in the right proportion can lead to overheating or, more likely, freezing in the case of colder weather. if it freezes. It's best to have the system flushed and refilled to ensure the antifreeze is at its best if you haven't done so in the last 40,000 miles or so depending on your specific vehicle. While you're at it, it’s probably best to have all of the fluids in the car checked.

Check the windshield wipers and tires for wear. Tires without proper tread can be a hazard from lack of traction on wet, snowy, and icy roads. Windshield wipers need to be able to hold up to the snow and ice they need clear out of our lines of sight.
