The Toyota Camry is practically ubiquitous with the concept of a mainstream midsize sedan. While that has vaulted it to the top of the sales charts, many point to its 2015 refresh as when it became not just a bread or flour staple of families, but a fun-to-drive model. But Toyota isn’t stopping there. At the Detroit Auto Show this year, they gave us our first look at the 2018 model.
While the 2015 refresh was just that—a refresh—the 2018 Camry is a clean sheet design. The goal, as stated at the press conference for its launch at the Detroit Auto Show, was to make the Camry more engaging both visually and to drive. The increased rigidity of the body, and the presence of new suspension and two all-new four- and six-cylinder engines.
