The Toyota Research Institute is beginning research this month in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence.
One of TRI's headlining goals is the development of self-driving vehicles. However, TRI's other main purpose is developing tools to expand Toyota Mobility for in-home use.
This Human Support Robot (HSR) may not look like much. All it is is a single grasping arm on a telescoping body.
What can it do?
It picks objects up, and sets them down again. It can grab items from the floor, or from high spaces.
This might not sound like much, until you have a disability that makes it difficult or impossible for you to reach the floor. As TRI's research teams gear up, we expect to see improved HSRs capable of even more complex tasks.
At Marion Toyota, we're proud to support a brand that goes above and beyond to create easy to use adaptive equipment for on the road, and in the home. Come test drive a new vehicle.
