Toyota Motor North America has been acknowledged for its diversity for the 9th consecutive year.
CEO Jim Lentz summed up Toyota's commitment perfectly:
"We build cars and trucks for all kinds of drivers, in communities across the country," Lentz said. "To serve America effectively, we need to mirror the rich diversity of our customers."
Toyota is the only automaker on the recently-released list. Its No. 38 ranking was a two-spot improvement from 2014. DiversityInc came up with the rankings after surveying more than 1,600 companies about talent pipeline, equitable talent development, CEO/leadership commitment and supplier diversity.
DiversityInc lauds Toyota for its external diversity council, commitment to employee resource group and cross-cultural mentoring initiative.
"We believe, now more than ever, that Diversity & Inclusion will be the engine that drives our innovation," Latondra Newton, chief social innovation officer, said.
