The Toyota
Camry certainly has a lot of superlatives associated with
it. It's clearly one of the most dependable vehicles around as 90 percent of
the models sold over the last decade are still going strong. The Camry has also
been the best-selling car in America for 11 consecutive years. Moreover, it has
taken that prize in 15 out the last 16 years. But a decade and a half of
mid-size supremacy still isn't quite enough for our brand.
While the trusty R&D team will surely continue to add to the vehicle's repertoire of engineering and technological features, one thing that Toyota intends to continue is the Camry's legacy as the top selling car in the US. As such, the brass laid out an aggressive goal at the start of the year--to sell a total of 400,000 models in 2013.
Holy ambition Batman! Sure sounds like a lot, but we checked in on the progress and at the six-month marker the brand had sold 207,000 vehicles. Now, you don't have to be a math major to figure out that they're on pace to see their lofty pursuit come to fruition.
Even if you don't share the same enthusiasm for new Toyota models that our Marion, IL staff does, it's still exciting stuff. Then again, it doesn't quite compare to the feeling you get when you're behind the wheel of this American mainstay.
To see what all the hype is about, visit our Marion Toyota showroom and we can set you up on a test drive in the country's favorite car.
