The last time we had some news for you regarding the 2014 Toyota Highlander, its hybrid sibling was getting a price tag at the LA Auto Show. As exciting as it was, it only made us that much more anxious for its arrival here at Marion Toyota.
But thanks to our friends over in Indiana, this long-awaited SUV ought to be here in no time.
Not too long ago, our favorite automaker invested $430 million into their Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) operations. It made way for 600 new jobs at their Princeton auto plant and gave them enough resources to launch the 2014 Highlander down the production line. And with TMMI set to employ 4,700 team members by the end of the year, it goes without saying that this was a worthwhile investment.
"With Toyota's launch of production for the new Highlander right here in the Hoosier State, we are witnessing an economy driving forward," says Sue Ellspermann, Lieutenant Governor of Indiana. "Form our world-class workforce to our low cost of doing business, Indiana proves daily that it is a state that works for automotive manufacturing."1
Unfortunately, we still have to wait a little while before these beauties roll into our dealership early next year. Until then, there's never been a better time to gain a base of comparison with a test drive in the 2013 Toyota Highlander here in Marion, IL, just down the way from Cape Girardeau. Trust us, folks: the anticipation is warranted.
