Japanese automaker Toyota does an excellent job of giving back to the community on a larger level, but state-centered Toyota branches, such as Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, do their part as well. Recently, the manufacturing group announced that it would donate $115,000 to the United Way to establish ten early education centers that will help parents better prepare their children to enter school.

The investment will be expanded to $450,000 over the next five years and will lead workshops for parents, complete with educational materials, ready their preschool and kindergarten children for school by making learning fun, as children who start school behind often stay there. The new schools will be located in Bellevue, Ashland, Berea, Glasgow, Burgin, Leitchfield, Murray, Paducah, New Haven and Prestonsburg. Toyota will add an additional five academies over the next few years.

Terry Tolan, Executive Director of Kentuck's Office of Early Childhood, explains that the new collaboration between the private and public sector will aid children's most important teachers, their parents, better prep them for success. He says, "Every parent wants to see their child succeed. Bornlearning Academies help parents of young children learn how they can best meet their child's needs to assure they will be ready for kindergarten."1
