Japanese automaker Toyota certainly does understand how to put together a winning team. The brand's run to a Top Fuel racing title included 14 wins and 17 number one qualifying positions during the 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season. One of the top performers this season was Antron Brown, the first African-American driver in history to win a major American auto racing title.
Brown, who became the third consecutive Toyota driver to earn the Top Fuel title, gushes, "This championship goes way back to when I started Pro Stock bikes. Being in this sport for 15 years as a professional and just working hard, keeping your head down to the grind, and I was very fortunate and blessed to be with some great, great crew chiefs. You look at where you're at right now and all the bumps and bruises and the deals where you didn't have sponsorship and you stayed out there and you fought through the struggle."1
Brown achieved six series wins, 11 final appearances, and a record of 49-17 in win-loss elimination rounds (.742 percent). He even achieved the quickest pass in NHRA history with a 3.701-second run at Reading.
Who's your favorite racer, reader? Even if it's not Antron, you have to admit he has skills! For more great Toyota updates, check back often here with Marion Toyota, conveniently located at 3300 W Deyoung Marion, IL 6 3929. We always have the latest new Toyota news!
