At least, that is what one family recently found out a their Lake Tahoe cabin home, and we here at Marion Toyota think that there is no better critic of the recent move for more eco-friendly cars than mother nature!
Basically, what happened was that the McCarthy awoke one night to some strange rustling in outside their home. When they went outside to investigate, they found a black bear inside their Prius! The family did the only smart thing to do in such a situation: They retreated back inside the house and called the police!
Unfortunately, the fury culprit got away. When the police showed up on the scene, the car and the bear were both gone. Luckily, however, the vehicle was recovered a mere 80 feet away from where it was parked. The current theory is that the bear managed to disengage the parking brake and set the car into neutral while rummaging around in it.
"The direction-selector gear shift lever had been ripped completely out of the dashboard," Mrs. McCarthy said. "Every recognizable piece of the interior" had been ripped out--although it was undamaged on the outside."1
