Toyota is doing everything that they can to please truck drivers across the country. The latest step in their ongoing effort involves redesigning their best-selling pickup truck, the Toyota Tacoma. Marion Toyota expects to see the overhauled compact pickup truck this fall, which is why we thought we'd share a few details on what to expect.

Toyota's interest in redesigning the Tacoma stems from their continued investment in the compact pickup truck segment. This is a segment that other automakers have all but abandoned, yet Toyota remains diligent in their offerings. Bob Carter, Group VP and Brand Manager, Toyota, says that the compact pickup segment is important to the company, because it attracts young customers."1

He also went on to say that he thinks business could pick up for the segment if petrol prices continue to climb like they currently are. Another indicator that Toyota made the right choice in sticking with the compact truck segment is seen in the fact that the Japanese automaker sold more Tacomas than Tundras in the first two quarters of 2011.

But enough about the why, we know you're doing to know what is going to happen with the Tacoma redesign. First, we should note that the 2012 Toyota Tacoma will retain everything that makes it an incredible truck. This overhaul is mainly set to focus on the exterior aesthetics and interior features, rather than tinkering with the powertrain, which is about as perfect as you can want.

So far, we haven't heard any official word on what the redesigned Tacoma will look like, inside or out. We're hoping that Toyota will announce something soon, as the truck's highly anticipated launch date is creeping up on us quite fast. Toyota wouldn't leave us in the dark up until the launch day, would they?
