CLINT COLLECTS FIRST WIN IN A CAMRY



SONOMA, Calif. (June 24, 2012) -- In Sunday afternoon's Toyota Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at the road course in Sonoma, Calif., Camry driver Clint Bowyer collected his first victory as a member of Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR), as well as his inaugural victory driving a Toyota.

Toyota Prius c Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Award


The 2012 Toyota Prius c earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's top award for good performance in front, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations.  The Prius c joins the Prius and Prius v as IIHS award winners.

Also receiving Top Safety Picks were the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco, a midsize hybrid, and the 2012 Hyundai Azera, a large family car.

Americans Pick Toyotas as Highest Quality Cars in Yahoo! Autos Poll



According to a Yahoo! Autos survey, Toyota has regained its image among Americans age 18 to 64 as the automaker with the highest quality vehicles.  Of 1,000 people asked which automotive brand built the highest quality vehicles, Toyota came out on top with 13 percent, well ahead of others among the Top 5 Quality Brands.

BMW Begins Cooperation With Toyota on Next-Generation Batteries


Toyota Motor Corp. (7203) and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) have begun joint research into next-generation batteries to power cleaner vehicles.

The two automakers will try to increase the performance and capacity of lithium-ion batteries with new combinations of materials, Munich-based BMW said today in a statement. In addition to the research cooperation, BMW will supply Toyota's European unit with diesel engines starting in 2014.

Forbes Lists Five Toyota Vehicles as Toughest Cars for 2012


Of the nine vehicles on the Forbes list of the Toughest Cars for 2012 list, five are Toyota products --  Toyota Highlander, Prius and Sienna and Scion xB and xD.  Forbes based its conclusions on the research, dependability studies, and safety testing of J.D. Toyota today announced its "100 Cars for Good" program, which will award 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 deserving nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public.
